Welcome to My Blog

I am four years old and, so far, an only child, but I am not spoiled. I think. Mommy tells me that I am lucky because I have many people who love me both on the West Coast and the East Coast.

I got new shoes!

We went to San Francisco on Saturday to attend the Hearing Dog graduation ceremony to celebrate my doggie's 2nd anniversary of doing the same. 2 of his classmates were there, and I flirted with the Elizabeth, the 8 month old daughter of my doggie's favorite trainer, Felix. Daddy ran over my sippie cup with the car, so I have to get a new one.

Karen asked Mommy to buy me some new shoes because she has me walk to the van and she did not want to see my Bobux getting ruined by going outside on rough surfaces. So we went to Payless yesterday to see what they had. I ended up getting Incredibles sneakers that have that flashy light thingy. Not that I care about the light or the Incredibles, but they were the easiest ones to get on. Plus they stayed on. And they were on sale.

New tooth!

For the first time since I was 7 months old, I have a new tooth coming in. Mom noticed I was drooling a lot, and then she saw the tooth poking out of my gum. She says it is a molar on the lower right. I have been kinda cranky and waking up at night (at least my diaper rash is gone!). Mommy keeps sticking her finger in my mouth (brave lass!) and she thinks a tooth is going to pop up on the left side too since it is swollen there.

In other news, I watched Grandpa make potato soup the other night. I was fascinated. I spent all day Saturday with Aunt Teresa, Uncle Chris, and my cousins Emma and Ian while Mommy and Daddy worked. I had lots of fun, and so did they. I laughed and clapped when I saw Mommy in the window before she came in the house to pick me up.

I am walking a lot now (gee, has it only been since February 3rd that I took my first step?), and I like making things make noise. I put the plastic pieces from my shape sorter toy in a cup to hear what kind of noise it makes then. Mommy does not like it when I bang my blocks on the glass door though. When she says "No" I wrinkle my nose and hang my head and shoulders and sit on the floor in a pout. But she STILL won't let me do it. Rats!

Lots o' stuff

Let's see. I STILL have a bad butt rash. The stupid doctor won't give Mommy anything to make it go away. I have spent a lot of time outside with nothing but my short robe on (I look like a Jedi with the hood up!). Mommy says that I walk like Mowgli from the Jungle Book. It makes her laugh, and it saves wear and tear on my knees. Yesterday was Valentine's Day. I don't remember my first one since I was like 16 days old or something like that. I was still trying to figure out what the heck happened to my nice warm water world. Anyway, Daddy came home with a big sugar cookie. I ate about a third of it while half walking/crawling around. The dog wanted some, but I kept moving out of his way. Mommy is organizing my room. She packed away all my old socks because they were too small. She bought new ones at Target as well as a new big bib and a new sippie cup so I will always have at least one handy and clean. Now I have a red one, a green one, an orange one, and a blue one. Daddy got Mommy a black raspberry bush for a Valentine's present. Poor Mommy tried to prune one of the big bushes in front, and she did a real hack job. It is not horrible, but she made herself stop. I am walking more now. I think my record is now 11 steps in a row. I like walking-I prefer it, but unless somebody helps me, I will still crawl for longer distances. I hope my rash goes away. It has really affected my sleep and makes me cry. Oh, today I had my first spinach omelette. Or rather, I had some of Mommy's. We dropped off her car at Pep Boys for repair, and then we had time for breakfast before she had to go to work. Dad got a meat omelette, so I had some of his cubed ham. Then I had a piece of Mommy's wheat toast with just a little bit of mixed fruit jelly. YUM!

I can say nana

Besides Mama and Dada and lots of baby language, I can say "nana" which means "I want some banana please". I am walking better too although I still have a long way to go. If I want to get somewhere quickly, I will insist that Mommy help me walk or I go a few steps and crawl the rest. I have another bad diaper rash, but I am smiling a lot which makes Mommy smile. I like watching her brush her teeth-that's funny! Then I let her brush mine a bit with my Winne the Pooh toothbrush. I have stopped using bottles. I would still use them, but I get along just fine with sippie cups so why not?

My mommy misses me

My mommy and I are very attached to each other these past few days. Literally and figuratively. I know at work she talks to all the babies because she misses me so much. Our new game at diaper change time is she puts a diaper on top of my face. Then I throw it on the floor. She pretends to be shocked, and I laugh. Then she puts it back on my face, and we do it all again. Somehow, the diaper on my butt gets changed during all this. She thinks I don't know her game, and I let her think that. Mommies want to think they are smart and clever.
