I am four years old and, so far, an only child, but I am not spoiled. I think. Mommy tells me that I am lucky because I have many people who love me both on the West Coast and the East Coast.

All done

I can say "All done". Mommy is quite insistent that I do not throw my food to indicate I am no longer interested in eating. She wants me to say "All done". She even showed me hand signals in case I do not want to speak, but I said "all done." and kept saying it (Kinda like Donovan with Dammit)Sunday night. If I am feeling lazy, then I say "uh duh". Mommy still understands.

I got pictures taken on Saturday for my 18 month portrait. I was not very cooperative. I was feeling a bit naughty. I did what I was not supposed to do and did not do what I was supposed to do. Hee hee. They managed to get some decent pictures anyway. Then Mommy went to a movie for "Mommy time" while Dad took me to Costco. I was cranky, so he took me home. I refused to nap, and he had to deal with cranky me until Mommy came home. Then we played a lot before I ended up going to bed. Mommy took me to a new church on Sunday. St Ignatius Loyola but she calls it Ignacio Reroneo. Grandma thinks that is funny, but I don't get why. Anyway, it is kid-friendly because they have speakers in the lobby so if I get antsy, then I can run around the lobby and Mommy can still hear the homily and songs and stuff. Cool! And there are stairs to the bathrooms too! Aunt Teresa called and invited us over for a late lunch, so we spent 2 hours there. Ian was upset because I played with his balloon and new ball. Did you know that macaroni and cheese mixed with applesauce is pretty good? Well, it is! I know because I tried it! Mommy took Snickers and I on a walk to the park. Mommy let me go down the slide lots of times. I wanted to go more, but it was clear to Mommy that we had better head home. Plus I wanted to play in the dirt, and some bleepheads (what is a bleephead?) broke their glass beer bottles in the sand around the playground equipment. Mommy was mortified and would not let me play in the dirt. She is also going to make a complaint with the park district. Mommy voted to raise property taxes so they can afford to maintain the parks. I hope everyone else did too.

What else is new? I had my very first real conversation on the phone. I talked to Grandma on the land line while Mommy plugged in the cordless. It was cool. 10 days til Grandma gets here! I can't wait!

I showed Daddy how well I can play with the shape sorter. Daddy bragged to Mommy about it, but she said I have been doing it for weeks now (which I have).

I also am getting into running. I think it is so much fun! I do it all the time to show off to Mommy, and she keeps saying "That's right, Conor! Work off all that energy!"

That's all for now. Kisses to all my fans.

Today I saw my doctor

Today I went to see my doctor for my 18 month checkup even though I am 2 days shy of turning 18 months. :) She said I am quite healthy and developmentally on track. I am 24 lbs 3 oz and 32 1/4". She thought she heard something wrong with my heart, but she was wrong. Mommy was getting worried for a minute. I got 2 shots (Hep A and something else.)--one in each arm. It hurt and I cried, but I did a really good job! Mom was so proud of me. I even got to push the elevator buttons. Tomorrow I am going to JC Penney to get my portrait taken. Mommy bought a new outfit for me. It was on sale for $8.74 (including the tax!), and the original price was $22.99. It is a yellow, blue and white striped shirt with jean short overalls with a doggy pattern. She held up 3 outfits for me to look at, and I liked the doggy one best. So did Mommy. It even has a bone tag on the front! Mommy has been wondering if she should get my hair cut. It is getting a bit long, but it still looks cute, especially the curls. Mommy also bought me new shoes yesterday (size 6.5) because my feet keep getting bigger and bigger!

Sigh...

It looks like I will not be moving to NY. Mommy is very sad. Grandma is coming out to visit in 15 days though, so I will at least get to see her a bit. Mommy also is trying to arrange for us to go to NY to visit in October to celebrate her birthday. (By the way, Auntie Steph, I know you are reading this. Mommy says next month marks 29 years of friendship for you guys. Wow! That is a lot. You guys are old.)

Last night, Mommy went to Marine's house to pick me up as usual. Usually, I am ready to go. I ask to be picked up and wave goodbye even before Marine tells Mom how my day went. But not last night. I got out a car that I love and played and played with it. Finally, Mom said "Conor, Snickers is at home waiting for us." Well, I picked up the car and put it away. I asked to be picked up, waved goodbye to Vova, gave Mommy a kiss, leaned over to give Marine a kiss, gave Mommy another kiss, and waved goodbye to everybody. Then we left. We played at home. Then we had a very nice snuggling session for my bedtime routine. I love my Mommy.

This morning, I was very frustrated. I wanted to take the toothbrush out of Mommy's mouth after I threw mine to the floor. She said no, so I hit her. Well, I got a timeout in the Naughty Corner (a slight variation on Donovan's The Wall). I tried to leave once, but Mommy told me to go back. I was so upset that I was being punished. Mommy came back to me after my minute was up, and she hugged me and said that I must not hit her. She gave me a kiss, and all was well. We gave Snickers his snacks before we left for Marine's house. We have to go to the grocery store tonight. I need bananas!!

Chuck is crowded

Mommy had to work on Saturday, and Daddy took me to Chuck E. Cheese. Mommy met us over there. It was very crowded, and lots of rude little kids were running around. However, I had a blast playing and looking at other kids. Then we went to dinner at Fresh Choice. I ate a lot. And I slipped some food to Snickers which made him happy but not Daddy. Sunday, Mommy and I went to a Healing Arts Fair. We found out that Snickers is getting arthritis in his right hip. Mommy was told a bunch of stuff about me. Maybe I will write about it later when it all comes to pass. Then we went home and had a nap. Then we went to Mommy's friend's house for a BBQ. Except they are vegetarians, so it was all vegetables. I found out that I like grilled mushrooms! I was running around when I fell and bonked my head. Ooh, it hurt for a bit, but I was okay. Mommy did not have to work on Monday because she worked Saturday. We took a walk with Snickers early in the day because it got to 107 later. We mostly played inside. Mommy took me to Marine's house in the afternoon because she and Daddy had an appointment at Family Court. Mommy picked me up later, and Daddy came home with pizza for dinner. I was playing hide and seek and fell and re-bonked my head in the same spot as Sunday! I got a small egg on my head, but it looks better Tuesday morning. We walked over to Albertson's, and I got to ride the little carousel there. Daddy left for Fremont after I went to bed to avoid the morning rush hour.

Don't make fun of me

Well, Daddy came home last night. Again I was distracted from my bedtime routine. This morning, I played with Mom and Snickers and then Daddy woke up before Mom had to go to work. Dad said that he would keep me home from daycare to play with me. I did not want Mom to go. I cried and cried as she went to get dressed for work. I cried so hard that I choked! Mom told Dad to try reading a book with me, but I still wanted Mommy. Then Daddy mocked me! He said "Wah wah wah" and that really hurt my feelings so I cried harder. Mommy got very upset. She came over and hugged me tight. But she had to go to work, so she left with tears running down her face while she could still hear me crying inside the house.

I can do jobs

I might have previously posted that I can take my dishes to the dishwasher. Did I mention that I also feed the animals? I take the bowl over to the food containers. Mommy fills it, and then I bring it back to the right spot and put the bowl down. I also will put trash in the garbage if Mommy asks me. Mommy also combed my hair this morning and realized that I am so not a baby anymore. I probably should get a haircut (well, trim really), but Mommy is not ready for that yet. She loves my curls. Grandma might come out to visit us next month. I hope she does. Mommy is thinking that she and I might go visit NY in October to celebrate her birthday. I want to show everyone how big I am getting! And wrestle with Pepa.

not much new...

Dad needed some period clothes for his new job, so on Saturday we went to a store near Aunt Rose's house. We spent quite a bit of time in there, so Mom did not get to go to look around the antique store. Then we went to Aunt Rose's house. We brought stuff to go swimming, but we got a much later start than we thought we would. I played a bit with my cousin Lydia, and we had dinner. I did splash my hands in the pool (and tried to get a drink!) and also then splashed my feet while waiting for Daddy to be ready to leave. I also saw the donkeys. Mom and I went for ice cream on Sunday with some new friends. Then we went to the store, and I took a nap. Then we took several walks and had fun with Snickers.

Ouch!

Last night, my buddy at daycare (Isaac) bit me on both cheeks! I cried so hard! Luckily, he did not break the skin. Marine washed my face and put ice and antibiotic cream on it. Then she nervously called Mommy at work. By that time, I was sitting in Vova's lap drinking milk, so everything was ok. Daddy made it to town in time to pick me up, so Mommy warned him about the bites. She was a little appalled at seeing the marks, but I am fine. The marks have faded some overnight, but they are still there. I hope he does not do that again.

how was your 4th of July?

I had a busy weekend. I went to see Aunt Teresa and family with Mom and Dad for a while on Saturday. That was fun. I even said "thank you" for the first time. Sunday, Mom and I just kinda hung out. We were not feeling all that well. Mom bought me 4 bananas on Sunday morning, and I ate 2 of them almost immediately. We went to Trader Joe's, and then Mommy called her boss to say she was feeling bad and would take Monday off. We played in my pool for a while. I wanted one of my toys, so I pointed and said "please". Mommy was so happy that I most certainly got to play with the toy. I took really good naps on Monday. Mom cleaned out the fridge of food that has gone past the point of no return. I ate 2 more bananas, so we had to walk to the store to get more. And on the 4th of July, I did not nap well at all! Poor Mommy! We went to the park and went on the slide and the swing. We took 3 walks! After I woke from my second nap, Mommy and I went to Grandpa's house. Mommy took a picture of me in my shades with her camera phone and sent it to Daddy's cell phone so he had a pic of me to look at while he was working. (Later, Daddy criticized Mommy's technique, but geez). I enjoyed the BBQ. I also danced with Mommy and my cousins in one of the bedrooms. Mommy put me up in the tree for a minute with some of the other big boys. Snickers was barking at other dogs, so Mommy had to tell him to hush. Before all the bigger fireworks started, some boxes of snappers (you throw them on the ground and they snap) were distributed to all the kids. Mommy showed me how they work. She was so proud of me because I did not eat any and I threw them well. If one did not explode, then she would lift me up and put me down so that I stepped on it (I did have shoes on) and made it work. It was getting close to my bedtime, so Mommy and I made the rounds and said goodbye to people. Aunt Teresa walked us to the car, and she talked to Mommy for a while. I don't think it was nice of her because Mommy cried a lot after we left. She did pull it together to put me through my bedtime routine though.
